New Delhi. Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will potentially launch 3 new SUVs in the next 18 months. One of these is an all-new electric SUV, which is based on the Maruti Suzuki EVX. Apart from this, two hybrid SUVs are also expected to be launched. Come, let us know about them.
Toyota Electric SUV
Toyota’s first electric SUV is expected to be launched in the second half of 2025, with its design inspired by the urban SUV concept introduced last year. This new electric vehicle will share a lot with the Maruti Suzuki eVX, including the underlying platform and derivatives of the 27PL. Apart from this, it will be equipped with ADAS suite and many safety features.
Toyota Fortuner MHEV
The upcoming mild hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) variant of the Toyota Fortuner is expected to feature a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This technology specifically enhances the performance of the existing GD series diesel engines by providing additional power and torque.
Additionally, the 48-volt system helps reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency. However, no official information has been revealed regarding the launch of Toyota Fortuner’s Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV).
7-Seater Toyota Hyrider
The 7-seater version of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hayrider will arrive in early or mid-2025. It will compete with other three-row SUVs like MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar. To differentiate itself from the standard models, it will be given new features along with cosmetic updates. However, the familiar 1.5 liter mild-hybrid petrol and 1.5 liter strong hybrid petrol engines will continue.
