TN Governor CM pay tribute to Gandhi on his death anniversary
CHENNAI: In a solemn ceremony marking the 77th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin, and various ministers paid heartfelt floral tributes to the Father of the Nation.
Governor RN Ravi, expressing his reverence, stated, “Humble tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his Punyatithi. His ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity, and universal brotherhood constitute the soul of Bharat and will ever be a source of inspiration and a guiding force for building an inclusive and sustainable global future.” This sentiment was shared on the official Raj Bhavan handle on X.
While Chief Minister MK Stalin, currently in Spain, conveyed his thoughts on the significance of the day. “Today is the day when an ideology opposed to pluralism in the country killed Gandhi, who desired truth, peace, and communal harmony. That anti-human mob could only take away Gandhi’s life but not the brotherhood that he sowed among us.”
Leading the way in promoting communal harmony, ministers and DMK leaders, under the guidance of the party’s youth wing secretary and minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, took a pledge to uphold the values that Mahatma Gandhi stood for.
Governor Ravi, along with ministers MP Saminathan, PK Sekarbabu, GCC Mayor R Priya, and Deputy Mayor M Magesh Kumar, paid their respects by laying floral tributes at Gandhi’s portrait at Egmore government museum. Meanwhile, government employees across various offices took a collective pledge to foster religious harmony, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity.
