Time for ‘constitution churning’: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday termed the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as the election to save the Constitution and democracy.

“This is an election to save the Constitution and democracy. This is an election to save reservation and save our honour. At one time there was ‘Samudra Manthan’. This is the time for ‘Samvidhan Manthan’,” Yadav said in his speech here. Told reporters at the party office.
He said, “On one side there are people who want to protect the Constitution and on the other side there are people who want to destroy the Constitution.”
The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief said that the people of Uttar Pradesh gave a grand welcome and also gave a grand farewell.
“Those who came (to power) in 2014 are going (out of power) in 2024. 10 years was Hitler’s time. He could not stay there for more than 10 years,” Yadav said.
“So, his (apparently referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi) 10 years have also been completed,” he said.
Adolf Hitler was the Fuhrer of Germany from August 2, 1934 to April 30, 1945. He was Chancellor of Germany from January 30, 1933 to April 30, 1945.

The SP chief also took a clear dig at newly appointed minister Om Prakash Rajbhar (without naming him) and said that till the time a department is allotted (to him) and the principal secretary is appointed, elections will be held.
Yadav claimed that around one lakh farmers have committed suicide in the country since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.
He said that if his party comes to power, it will give legal guarantee for MSP.
He said, “The demands of the farmers are legitimate. MSP should be implemented and it should be legally guaranteed because agriculture is the backbone of the economy. If farmers and farming are ruined then the economy will also be adversely affected.” ,
