Three-day livestock and poultry show begins in Guwahati

Guwahati: The three-day Livestock and Poultry Show 2023-24 began in Guwahati on Friday. The show will continue till January 7 at the College of Veterinary Science Playground, Khanapara, Guwahati. The show is organized by the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department and Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation. The show aims to foster meaningful interactions between business leaders and potential farmer entrepreneurs in the livestock sector. Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Atul Bora, Sikkim Minister Lok Nath Sharma, MP Rani Oja and other senior officials were present. Minister Bora said that the government is working towards promoting the livestock sector in the state. “The Assam government of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is working towards promoting the livestock sector in the state.” Recognizing its immense potential for development.

On the other hand, Assam Livestock and Poultry Corporation President Manoj Saikia said that they have organized a training program and seminars for farmers. Saikia said, “There are around 200 stalls here and representatives from Delhi, West Bengal, Sikkim, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and other states have participated. We expect more than 10,000 people to come here daily.” Sikkim Minister Lok Nath Sharma said, “We have to also focus on livestock and poultry sector towards self-reliant India.” Sharma said, “This is a good initiative of the Assam government. Sikkim is known as an organic farming state. Our government has also taken many initiatives for the agriculture sector.” According to the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, seminar sessions, exhibitions, interactive sessions and competitions will be organized during the show.
