raigarh news. Jute Mill Police has solved the case of brutal murder of an old man in Bajirao Para and arrested the accused. Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Dr. Sanjeev Shukla and able leadership of Superintendent of Police Divyang Kumar Patel, the team formed with Police Station Jute Mill, Cyber Cell staff soon solved this complex murder case with accuracy.
On the morning of 26th September, Police Station Incharge Jute Mill Inspector Mohan Bhardwaj got information that Ramesh Tiwari alias Babbu Maharaj (62 years), living near Bajirao Para Gandhari Pulya, has been murdered by some unknown person at his house. On receiving the information, the Police Station Incharge immediately informed the senior officers and reached the spot with his staff. Superintendent of Police Shri Divyang Kumar Patel along with Additional SP, Headquarters DSP and Cyber Cell DSP, Cyber Cell team also reached the spot. Forensic experts, finger prints team and dog squad inspected the crime scene. The maid working at the deceased’s house – Smt. Sadhmati Yadav (60 years) resident of Maudhapara, Jute Mill told that when she reached Babbu Maharaj’s house to work at 8:00 am as usual, the gate of the front courtyard was locked from inside, then on entering the house with the help of neighbors, she found that Babbu Maharaj had been murdered. The police team thoroughly searched all the rooms of the house, in which the DVR and modem of the CCTV camera installed at the house were found missing, which the accused had taken away with the intention of hiding evidence. After getting the post-mortem of the dead body done and getting the short PM report, a crime was registered against the unknown accused in Jute Mill police station for murder and hiding evidence (crime number 420/2024 section 103(1), 238 BNS). Intensive police investigation
Under the leadership of Additional SP Akash Markam, SP Divyaang Kumar Patel formed separate teams of Headquarters DSP Akhilesh Kaushik, Cyber DSP Abhinav Upadhyay, Police Station Incharge Jute Mill along with Cyber Cell, Police Station Jute Mill and other police station staff, all were deployed in different tasks. Under the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, the formed team was keeping the crime scene safe, questioning the suspects in a systematic manner, examining the CCTV footage installed around the crime scene and investigating the murder from all angles. To search for the missing DVR from the crime scene, the police team searched extensively on both sides of the railway track behind the deceased’s house and continued searching for the DVR with the help of sanitation workers in the drain and nearby areas.
Plan and modus operandi of the crime by the accused
The accused said that he knew that Babbu Maharaj used to lend money to people, so he suspected that Babbu Maharaj had a lot of money and after planning to steal money from him, he broke into Babbu Maharaj’s house through the back door on 25th September at around 7:30 pm and hid under the bed in the last room of the house. Babbu Maharaj came home at about 9:00 pm, cooked food and was lying down after eating. At about 11:45 pm, seeing the opportunity, accused Deepak Yadav took out the drawer of the dressing table (made of plywood) and hit Babbu Maharaj on his head while he was sleeping, due to which Babbu Maharaj woke up and a lot of struggle ensued between the two. The accused hit him with a chair and finally made a noose of a towel and strangulated Babbu Maharaj to death. Then he opened the cupboard with the key kept under the pillow and stole ₹10,500 kept in the cupboard. While leaving the house, he cut the DVR wire from the room with a cutter, took the DVR and modem in a bag and told that he hid the bag containing DVR and modem in the grass near the railway track behind the house of the deceased.
The police have seized the DVR, modem bag on the memorandum of the accused and have recovered the stolen ₹10,500, towel used in the crime and clothes worn at the time of the crime from the accused. The accused Deepak Yadav, father late Milau Ram Yadav, age 41 years, resident of Bajirao Modhapara, Jute Mill Police Station, Raigarh district has been arrested for the crime of murder and sent on judicial remand.
