Thevaram and Thiruvasakam should be learnt without changing the tradition: SC Justice C. Saravanan

Tamil Nadu: Madras High Court Judge C. Saravanan advised the new generation to learn Thevaram, Thiruvasagam, and the twelve Thirumurai from the speakers, without changing the tradition.

Speaking at the inauguration of a 12-hour musical concert by the Chennai Nathapramam Music and Dance Ensemble on the occasion of Shivaratri in Nanganallur on Sunday evening, he said:

The new generation should learn Thevaram, Thiruvasakam, Panniru Thirumuraigal, and Abhirami Andathi from the speakers, without changing the tradition. He said that it is important to perform Thevaram Mutthodham through the speakers at weddings.

Earlier, Justice C. Saravanan presented the ‘Natha Pathika Sevaka’ award to Kortalam Subramaniam Othuvar. Following this, from 6 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday, twelve Thirumurai, Shiva Magimai-Natyam Natakam, Shiva Nama Sankeerthanam, devotional tunes, vocal, violin, and mridangam music programs were held under the title “Shiva Ratrila Shiva Geetangal.” Nathabramam founder Advocate N. Subramaniam, Honorary Secretary Badri Narayanan, and many others participated.
