There is nothing concrete in the state budget: KTR
Hyderabad: BRS MLA KT Rama Rao on Wednesday criticised that the budget presented by the government failed to promise anything concrete for the people of Telangana and wanted the Finance Minister to re-allocate it with adequate funds. In his over two-hour speech, KTR highlighted Telangana’s development in the last decade under the BRS regime and alleged that the Congress party was tarnishing Telangana’s image by not acknowledging its success only to earn some political mileage. KTR spoke on the significant progress in economic and social development, presenting a comprehensive overview of Telangana’s economic growth and the policies that have driven it. KTR pointed out that despite the criticism levelled by the Congress on financial management, Telangana’s development expenditure is 74 per cent, the highest in the country. The state’s committed expenditure, which includes salaries, pensions and interest payments, is 47 paise per rupee compared to the national average of 56 paise. On allegations of excessive borrowing, Rao said the state’s debt-GSDP ratio was 27.9 per cent which was better than many other states. He said the increased borrowing was used strategically for development projects. He questioned why the Congress party had set an ‘impractical 100-day deadline’ for implementing the six guarantees and asked when the government would fulfil its 420 election promises.
