Thenpennai river in spate; flood warning issued for 3 districts

Tamil Nadu : Flood warning has been issued in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Tiruvannamalai districts due to flooding in Thenpennai river.

Krishnagiri district has been receiving continuous rainfall for the last few days. The reservoirs in Krishnagiri district are gradually filling up.

Kelavarpalli Dam and Krishnagiri Dam built on the Thenpennai river flowing in Krishnagiri district are filling up. As a precaution, all the water entering the dam is being released.

According to this, the inflow of water in Krishnagiri Dam till 8 am today was 4,208 cubic feet. All the water is being released through the sluice gate.

Therefore, Krishnagiri District Collector S. Dinesh Kumar has advised people living along the banks of the Thenpennai river not to enter the river or take bath and those living in low-lying areas along the Thenpennai river from Krishnagiri Dam to Sathanur Dam to move to safer places.

Flood warning has been issued in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Tiruvannamalai districts due to flooding in Thenpennai river.
