Contract labor union initiation camp destroyed

A relay hunger strike was taken up three days ago with the demand that the pending issues of the 13th wage agreement be resolved and the 14th wage agreement be signed in collaboration with the JAC of the contract labor unions. On Wednesday night, after 9 pm, the ITC, with the help of police and security personnel, demolished the hunger strike camp and scattered the flags of the respective labor unions. The JAC leaders protested in front of the ITC on Thursday morning along with the contract workers. The workers protested for an hour during the A shift and general shift in the morning. In the gate meeting held later, the contract labor JAC union convener Pati Somireddy, co-conveners Sanikommu Ramachandra Reddy, Bellam Nagayya, and Yakub Pasha addressed the workers.

After the initiation camp was organized, the police department told the workers’ JAC to remove the camp as the Chief Minister was visiting Bhadrachalam on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami, but the JAC leaders said that they would continue their struggle, but the police broke up their initiation camp under pressure from the ITC management, they alleged. They said that they would fight any legal battle to achieve their rights and resolve their problems, and that they were ready to organize an initiation camp and fight with the ITC management again after Sri Rama Navami. They warned the management that even contract workers would remain committed to the JAC and join the struggle, and that they would take the initiative to achieve their problems and rights with the spirit of the workers. JAC members Varnagonda Veeranna, Singarapu Satish, Kadala Venkata Reddy, Sunkireddy Venkata Reddy, Mekala Seshamma, Ramasetty Lakshmi, Veeramreddy Seetarami Reddy, and a large number of contract workers participated in this protest program.
