Mahasamund. An unknown thief broke the table drawer of a rice mill in Mahasamund district and stole Rs 4 lakh. It is being told that Rs 5.25 lakh were kept in the drawer, but the thief ran away with only Rs 4 lakh. The remaining Rs 1.25 lakh were kept in the drawer itself. The whole matter is of Rajasavaiya of Pithora police station area. According to the information received, rice miller Anil Agarwal, resident of Sheetal Vihar Colony, Lakhagarh, told the police that he is the operator of Chhattisgarh Rice Mill located in Rajasawaiya. On February 5, he had withdrawn Rs 9.50 lakh from a bank in Raipur, out of which Rs 4.25 lakh was spent on payment to laborers and others. Anil Aggarwal told that the remaining amount of Rs 5.25 lakh was kept in the drawer of the office of the rice mill.
On the night of 15 February, his son Ayush Aggarwal locked the drawer and went home. Next day, watchman Ashok called and informed that the office door and drawer lock were open. After the information, Ayush Aggarwal and Shivam Aggarwal went to the rice mill and found that the office lock and drawer lock were open. Out of Rs 5.25 lakh kept in the drawer, Rs 4 lakh were missing. Anil Aggarwal told that the theft incident was carried out between 12 and 3:20 on the intervening night of 15-16 February. Police said that a crime has been registered under section 380, 457 on the complaint of rice miller Anil Aggarwal. The police is busy searching for the unknown thief. Nearby CCTV footage is being scrutinized.
