Raigarh. Kotwali police have uncovered a major theft at an abandoned house in Madhubanpara, arresting a thief and the person who hid the stolen gold. The accused stole cash and gold and silver jewelry worth approximately ₹9 lakh from the house. The two absconding accused are already in jail in other cases.
According to information, on September 24th, Madhubanpara resident Arju Bano Mallick filed a report stating that she had gone to her maternal home in Jindal Patrapali on August 28th. When she returned on the evening of September 21st, she found the house’s lock broken. The wires to the CCTV cameras had been cut, and the cupboard locker was found broken. Investigation revealed that approximately ₹9 lakh worth of goods, including four gold necklaces, three rings, four earrings, four pairs of silver anklets, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and ₹2 lakh in cash, were stolen from the house. Based on this, the Kotwali police registered Crime No. 491/2025 under sections 305 and 331(4) of the IPC and began investigation.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Divyang Patel and City Superintendent of Police Mayank Mishra, the team of Station House Officer Sukhnandan Patel intensified the investigation. Acting on a tip-off, suspects Ikram Khan and Mohammad Sameer were detained and interrogated. Ikram confessed to committing the theft with his accomplices, Sabir alias Batli and Saddam Malik. The interrogation also revealed that accused Sabir alias Batli’s brother, Mohammad Sameer, had hidden the stolen gold. Sections 317(2), 317(5), and 3(5) of the IPC were added to the case. Police seized goods worth approximately ₹3 lakh from the accused, including a gold necklace, a biscuit, a ring, and four pairs of silver anklets.
The arrested accused include (1) Ikram Khan, son of Suleman Khan, age 29 years, resident of Turkapara Palace Road, Raigarh and (2) Mohd. Sameer, son of late Mohd. Munir, age 40 years, resident of Turkapara Palace Road, Raigarh. Sabir alias Batli and Saddam Mallik, involved in the theft, are currently in jail in an excise case in Chakradharnagar police station area. Inspector Sukhnandan Patel, Head Constable Lomesh Rajput, Constable Kamlesh Yadav and Vinod Sharma played an important role in the action.
