Guwahati: A student of IIT-Guwahati was going to join the terrorist organization ISIS. After receiving the information, Assam Police took him into custody on Saturday. Let us tell you that recently through social media and email, a fourth year biotechnology student had expressed his intention to join the terrorist organization. When this was reported to the agencies, they started searching for him. It was revealed that he was missing from the IIT campus for several days. However, the police took him into custody. Let us tell you that recently in India, ISIS leader Haris Farooqui and his other associates have been arrested from Dhubri. He had crossed the border of Bangladesh and reached India and was hiding in a Dharamshala. According to the police, a lookout alert was issued against the student resident of Delhi. He recently wrote an open letter on LinkedIn in which he also explained the reasons for his decision. He was arrested from Hajo in Assam, which is about 39 km from Guwahati. When the police contacted the administration of IIT Guwahati, they came to know that the student was missing since afternoon. His mobile phone was also switched off. Assam DGP GP Singh said on social media, the police team has informed that the student of IIT Guwahati has been taken into custody. Further legal action will be taken against him. ACP (STF) Kalyan Kumar Pathak said, information about the case came to light after receiving an email and after this the police immediately came into action. He had claimed that he was going to join ISIS. STF sources said that after being detained, the student was first taken to his hostel. A black flag of ISIS was also found from here. He was mostly alone in the campus. He didn’t have many friends either. Let us tell you that Haris Farooqui, arrested by Assam Police, was a student of Aligarh Muslim University and he was active since 2019. His associate Anurag Singh alias Rehan, who was a resident of Panipat, has also been arrested. He changed his religion after marrying a Bangladeshi girl.
