Raigarh. Under the direction of Superintendent of Police (SP) Divyang Patel, the district is continuously cracking down on those involved in the illegal sale of intoxicants, banned drugs, injections, and syrups. In this vein, the Jute Mill police have taken significant action against a suspect selling solutions to minors. Station House Officer (Jute Mill) Inspector Prashant Rao received information that a man named Sheikh Ahsan Uddin Qadri was selling solution tubes in the trunk of his motorcycle and was located near Minimata Chowk, the old railway crossing. Upon receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene and detained the suspect, identified as Sheikh Ahsan Uddin Qadri, son of Sheikh Nasiruddin Qadri, 36, a resident of Jute Mill, Raigarh.
Upon searching, a bag containing 19 solution tubes labeled CHEMICAL VULCANIZING FLUID, manufactured by Omni, was found in the trunk of his Super Splendor motorcycle, number CG-13-J-8286. Each tube had a net quantity of 75 ml and an MRP of ₹50. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had purchased two cartons (40 tubes) of the solution from a shop in Rourkela, Odisha, approximately 15 days ago at a rate of ₹60 each and was selling it to minors for drug use, using the proceeds for household expenses. He also admitted that before being apprehended, he had sold one tube to a juvenile for ₹100.
Police seized 19 solution tubes worth ₹950, a sale proceed of ₹100, and the motorcycle used in the crime, valued at approximately ₹20,000. This solution is a harmful substance and, if consumed, can have serious health consequences and permanent effects on the lives and mental health of minors. The accused’s actions were found to be criminal offenses under Section 77 of the JJ Act and Sections 123, 275, and 286 of the CrPC. On this, crime number 332/2025 was registered in Jute Mill police station and the accused Sheikh Ahsanuddin Qadri was sent on judicial remand.
