Raigarh. The Mines Department is continuously taking strict action to effectively control the illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals in the district. In this regard, an intensive inspection drive was conducted on December 23rd and 24th in the Raigarh and Dharamjaigarh areas, targeting vehicles transporting minerals. During the inspection, the Mines Department team apprehended a tipper truck illegally transporting limestone. Additionally, 10 tractors were found illegally transporting sand and one tractor was found illegally transporting boulders. A total of 11 vehicles were seized for violating the rules and have been kept under secure custody at the Rairumakhurd police outpost, Dharamjaigarh police station, and the Collectorate premises.
District Mining Officer Soni stated that, on the instructions of the Collector, an investigation into illegal mining and transportation of minerals is underway in the district. Cases have been registered against the vehicle owners and others involved in the illegal transportation of minerals under Rule 71 of the Chhattisgarh Minor Mineral Rules, 2015, and Sections 21 and 23(a) of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, and legal action has been initiated. The Mines Department is also taking further action as per the rules.
Mining Inspector Someshwar Sinha and the district mining staff played an active role in this operation. The departmental team is continuously monitoring the area and taking prompt action against illegal activities. As per the instructions of Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, this campaign against those involved in the illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals will continue in the district. The district administration has stated that no one involved in illegal mining will be spared, and the strictest possible action will be ensured as per government rules.
