The fire brigade vehicle that went to fill water in the river sank, causing chaos
Sahibganj: A tragic incident has come to light in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand. Here, in Rajmahal police station area, a fire brigade vehicle had reached the ferry ghat in the Ganga river to fill water. There was some technical fault in the vehicle, due to which the fire engine got submerged in the water along with constable Arun Kumar.
According to the information, this incident happened on Saturday morning at around 8 o’clock. The fire brigade vehicle had reached the ferry ghat of Rajmahal to fill water. Here, fire personnel Mohd. Sajlim was backing the fire engine towards the ghat to fill water in the ropeway. Meanwhile, some fault occurred in the vehicle.
Due to a technical fault in the fire brigade vehicle, the vehicle started rolling backwards rapidly. During this, Mohd. Sajlim showed prudence and opened the gate of the vehicle and jumped out, but constable Arun Kumar could not get out of the vehicle and he got submerged in the Ganga along with the vehicle.
After getting information about this incident, Sub-Divisional Officer Kishore Kumar, Zonal Officer Md. Yusuf, Inspector Shyamlal Hansda, Radha Nagar Police Station In-charge Nitesh Pandey and other officers reached the spot. Teams have been deployed to take out the fire engine.
The district administration team is engaged in the rescue, but the fire engine and the constable have not been found yet. The NDRF team has also been called for the rescue. The head driver present in the vehicle said that they had gone to fill water in the fire engine, meanwhile the fire engine sank in the Ganga due to brake failure. I told the fireman Arun Kumar who was with me in the vehicle to jump too, but he could not jump and drowned along with the vehicle.
