Seeing the slow pace of road construction, the Mayor expressed displeasure. He took information from the officials regarding the delay in the work and gave instructions to complete the construction soon.

During the inspection, questions were also raised regarding the delay in asphalting and the quality of patchwork.

The Mayor made it clear that unnecessary delay in the development works of the city will not be accepted. He asked the officials to work responsibly and regularly monitor the construction works.

30 days deadline for road construction

The Mayor has directed the officials to complete the remaining construction work of the road within 30 days.

He said that it is the responsibility of the concerned authorities to complete the construction work within the stipulated time.

Due to delay in road construction, local citizens may face problems in transportation. There is a possibility of vehicular movement being affected due to incomplete roads and poor patchwork.

In such a situation, the Mayor stressed on expediting the work and ensuring the quality of construction.

However, detailed information about the total cost, length and work done so far of the road construction project is not available.

If the work is not completed then we will bring a censure motion

During the inspection, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava also gave a strict warning to the officials.

He said that if the remaining work on the road was not completed within the stipulated 30 days, they would bring a censure motion.

This warning of the Mayor is being considered important in the direction of fixing accountability in construction work.

The threat of bringing a censure motion indicates that the Mayor is taking the delay in construction work seriously.

However, the detailed details at which level and in respect of which officers the proposal will be brought have not been revealed.

Expressed displeasure over delay in asphalting

The Mayor also expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in asphalting the road.

Asphalting is an important part of road construction. This helps in improving the road surface and facilitating vehicular movement.

If the asphalting work is not completed on time, the road construction project may remain incomplete.

The Mayor instructed the officials to expedite this work.

Along with this, he also stressed on maintaining the quality of construction work, so that problems like deterioration soon after construction of the road do not arise.

Question on poor quality of patchwork

During the inspection, the Mayor also expressed displeasure over the quality of the patchwork done on the road.

Patchwork is done to repair potholes and damaged parts on roads. If this work is not done properly, the road may deteriorate again after some time.

The mayor drew the attention of officials to the poor quality work and the need to improve construction.

He indicated that it is not enough to just show the work completed but its quality should also be better.

The quality of road construction and repair works in the city is directly linked to the convenience and safety of the citizens.

Officials reprimanded for lack of cleanliness

Along with road construction, the Mayor also took stock of the cleanliness situation in Manishpuri area.

During this time, he expressed his displeasure after seeing the lack of cleanliness.

The Mayor instructed the officials to improve the cleanliness system in the area.

The cleanliness of the surroundings may be affected due to debris, dust and other materials thrown during road construction in the city. Therefore, along with construction work, it is also necessary to maintain cleanliness.

The Mayor directed the officials that there should not be any kind of negligence in works related to civic amenities.

Monitor by going to the spot and not in the office.

During the inspection, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava also raised questions on the working style of the officers.

He said that officers should not be limited to just sitting in the office and reviewing construction works.

The Mayor directed the officials to visit the construction sites themselves and see the actual status of the work going on there.

His emphasis was on reaching the spot to check the progress and quality of the work.

Through field inspection, problems arising in construction work can be identified in time.

Apart from this, regular presence of concerned officials can also improve the accountability of contractors and construction agencies.
