Raipur: A special court has sentenced Dr. Vikram Dadsena, who raped a woman on the pretext of treatment five years ago in Birgaon, Purani Basti of Khamtarai area, to life imprisonment. According to the special public prosecutor, the woman had gone to her acquaintance Dr. Vikram Dadsena’s clinic in Khamtarai area for treatment when she fell ill. During this time, Dr. Dadsena started making obscene gestures towards the woman with wrong intentions. When the woman protested, he said that the doctor has to touch the body to treat her. After this, on March 5, 2020, when she fell ill again, she called the doctor and he asked her to come to her home. When the woman reached home, the doctor forcefully raped her and told her that he was unmarried and filled her maang with sindoor by luring her to marry him. On the complaint of the victim, the police registered a case of rape and arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The hearing began when the charge sheet was presented in the court of Special Judge Pankaj Kumar Sinha. The judge sentenced Dr Vikram Dadsena, a resident of Pithora in Mahasamund district, to life imprisonment, a fine of Rs. 2,000 under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2,000 for rape and one year rigorous imprisonment under another section for raping a patient during the sacred duty of the doctor.
