Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the Statue of Knowledge, built at a cost of ₹1.43 crore (approximately $1.43 billion) near Vivekananda House on Marina Beach in Chennai. This is meant to showcase the growth of the school education sector in Tamil Nadu.

The School Education Department of Tamil Nadu is a pioneer in promoting innovation. It has consistently improved planning, management, and educational infrastructure from Class I to Class Plus 2 and is known for its excellent quality of education. Prioritizing student development, the School Education Department is strengthening school infrastructure, distributing free textbooks, providing bicycles, and utilizing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart classrooms. It is also implementing several schemes, such as the Breakfast Scheme, Foreign Educational Tourism, Numeracy, Professor Anbazhagan School Development Scheme, and the Green School Scheme. These projects further strengthen students’ educational capabilities. To showcase the growth of the school education sector in Tamil Nadu, which is one of the best states in the country in school education, a Statue of Knowledge, representing the spread of knowledge, has been erected at a cost of ₹1.43 crore. The statue, built at a cost of ₹1.43 crore, is located near Vivekananda House on Marina Beach in Chennai.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated and inspected the statue on Tuesday. Later, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released the book “Avivu-Saadat Charitram,” which details the projects and activities implemented by the School Education Department over the past five years.

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ministers Anbil Mahesh, E.V. Velu, P.K. Sekhar Babu, M.P. Swaminathan, Mayor R. Priya, School Education Secretary P. Chandramohan, Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation Chairman I. Leoni, Director S. Kannappan, and Primary Education Director P.A. Naresh were present at the event. In the center of this sculpture, a man and a woman can be seen standing facing the sky. They are depicted breaking the shackles of poverty, circumstances, and geography and moving forward. This sculpture symbolizes the moment when learning transforms one’s ambitions and dreams into achievements.

At the base of this sculpture collection, statues of a boy, a girl, and a disabled student affirm that education is every child’s birthright and that no learner should be left behind.

From this strong foundation, individuals emerge who demonstrate the diverse career paths that education offers. A doctor, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, a female pilot, an engineer, and an athlete each demonstrate a strategy that empowers the learner to serve society, lead, innovate, and advance.

The banner below the sculpture reads, “All this teaches us the lesson that if a child is educated, they will prosper in the future.”
