The absconding accused in the gangrape case has been arrested, he was dodging the police for 10 months

Jashpur news. The absconding accused in the case of gangrape of a tribal girl has been arrested by the Jashpur police team from Bana village of Garhwa district of the neighboring state of Jharkhand and sent to jail in judicial custody. SP Shashi Mohan Singh said that this incident of gangrape took place on 4 September last year at Danagari, a famous tourist place of the district.

He said that the accused Saddam Khan and Imtiaz Ansari had brought a tribal girl from Balrampur district here on the pretext of taking her for a walk. The accused had raped the victim forcibly in turns while assaulting her and had fled leaving the victim alone in the forest. On the complaint of the victim, a crime was registered against both the accused in Pandarapath police station under sections 366, 376 (D), 294, 34 and section 3 (2-V) of SC ST Act and the search for the accused was started. The accused Saddam Kham was arrested by Jashpur police from Phulwaria in Begusarai district of Bihar a week after the incident. The other accused Imtiaz Ansari was constantly dodging the police and running away.

SP Shashi Mohan Singh said that Imtiaz was constantly changing his hideout to escape from the police. To reach the accused, the SP formed a special team under the leadership of DSP Bhavesh Samarth. With the help of cyber cell and informers, this team found out that the accused Imtiaz Ansari is hiding in Bana village in Garhwa district of Jharkhand. Acting on the information, the Jashpur police team raided Bana village and brought Imtiaz Ansari into custody to Jashpur. During interrogation here, Imtiaz admitted to committing the rape incident along with Saddam Khan. On this, the police arrested him and sent him to jail in judicial custody.
