Thane: Surgery done on son’s private part instead of his injured leg, case registered

Maharashtra: A unique case has come to light from Shahpur in Thane district of Maharashtra. Here, the parents of a nine-year-old boy have alleged in their complaint to the police that the doctors of a government hospital performed surgery on their son’s private part instead of his injured leg. On the allegation of the victim’s parents, a health official has assured to investigate the matter. Police said that they are investigating the matter.

The minor’s parents said, “Last month, when the minor child was playing with his friends, he injured his leg. He was admitted to the sub-district hospital of Shahpur on June 15, where he was undergoing treatment. The doctors circumcised his private part instead of his injured leg.” He said that later, after realising their mistake, the doctors performed surgery on the injured leg.

The parents have also lodged a complaint with the Shahpur police. Though no case has been registered in this regard yet, a police officer said the complaint is under investigation. District Civil Surgeon Dr Kailash Pawar said health officials will investigate the allegations.
