Kalyan: Four persons, including a minor boy, have been arrested in a brutal murder case investigated by the Kolsewadi police. The incident took place on the busy 100 Feet Road in Kalyan, killing a 26-year-old man. The suspects have been identified as Shahil Sheikh (alias Saif), aged 21, Vidyasagar Murttil (alias Anna), aged 21, Arvind Gandpande (alias Pendya), aged 20, and a 17-year-old minor boy. The accused on Monday allegedly ambushed 26-year-old Sandeep Rathore in a filmy style and brutally attacked him with sharp-edged weapons when he was returning home after buying beer from a liquor shop, police said. In response to the incident, the Thane police have taken serious action by forming separate teams, one from Crime Branch Unit-3 and the other from Kolsewadi police station. Following this, the Crime Branch unit arrested two accused Shaikh and Anna from Igatpuri area of Nashik, while the remaining two were arrested by the Kolsewadi police station. According to a Times of India report, Kadam said, “Two of the four arrested accused are habitual offenders and the deceased Rathore was also a criminal with several serious crimes registered against him, including murder and attempt to murder. Both parties had an old enmity over a previous dispute, which led to the murder.” A man with a history of criminal cases was allegedly murdered on 100 Feet Road in Kalyan East due to old enmity. According to the police, a group of 4-5 people attacked him with sharp weapons in front of people before fleeing the scene. The victim has been identified as Sandeep Rathore of Mahalakshmi Nagar in Kalyan East. He had stopped to buy beer on 100 Feet Road on Monday night when the attack took place. Police swung into action and rushed Rathore to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Kolsewadi police station senior inspector Ashok Kadam said the accused have been identified and will be nabbed soon.
