The LT Marg police have registered a case against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Avinash Jadhav from Thane for allegedly demanding extortion of ₹5 crore. However, the MNS leader has filed a cross-complaint in the matter. Shailesh Jain, 56, who runs a jewelery shop in Zaveri Bazaar, lodged a complaint against MNS leaders Jadhav and Vaibhav Thakkar. After verifying the facts, the police registered a case of extortion, intentionally causing hurt and conspiracy against the two. , when the complainant called Thakkar to settle accounts of some money. However, Thakkar called Jadhav who along with his bodyguard, driver and five to six other associates came to Zaveri Bazaar and misbehaved with the complainant’s son. They threatened the complainant and demanded extortion of ₹5 crore,” said the police officer.
