Maharashtra: The Central Railway’s vigilance department has arrested a man in Kalyan for allegedly posing as a Railway Board vigilance inspector and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a railway employee. Officials said on Thursday that the accused was caught red-handed after a five-hour-long trap operation.
The trap was initiated following a complaint.
The action was taken after a complaint was filed by Mangesh Badgujar, a booking clerk working at the Kalyan railway booking office.
According to vigilance officials, the accused, identified as Harish Kamble, contacted the clerk, introduced himself as a Railway Board vigilance inspector, and allegedly demanded ₹60,000 to clear a pending payment that was stuck at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office.
