Dehradun: As the rain activities subside in Uttarakhand, the day temperature has started increasing. In many cities of the state, the maximum temperature is being recorded three to four degrees Celsius more than normal. At the same time, in some areas the nights remain cooler than normal. Due to this, there is a difference of up to 11 degrees Celsius between day and night temperatures. Amidst these fluctuations in weather, the Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of rain in seven districts.
After the rain has stopped, the feeling of heat during the day has increased due to clear sky and bright sunshine. An increase in maximum temperature is being recorded from mountainous areas to plains. At many places the mercury has reached three to four degrees above the normal level. However, due to the rapid drop in temperature after sunset, slight coolness is being felt in the morning and night.
The huge difference in temperature between day and night is also causing problems for people. Due to the heat during the day and relatively cool weather at night, the body may have difficulty adjusting to the changing temperatures. Especially children, elderly and already sick people need to be extra careful in this season.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the weather in the state is not going to be completely dry. There is a possibility of rain at isolated places in seven districts. These include other hill districts including Dehradun, Bageshwar and Rudraprayag. It may be cloudy at some places along with light rain. Due to this, there may be some drop in day temperature in the concerned areas.
Rain in the mountainous areas may further increase the coolness of the morning and evening. Whereas in the plain areas, there is a possibility of feeling humid due to sunlight and moisture. Due to changing weather patterns, there may be continuous fluctuations in temperature in the state. With the further weakening of monsoon activities in the coming days, a gradual decline in morning and night temperatures may also begin.
Here, with the change in weather, the number of patients suffering from seasonal diseases is also increasing in Uttarakhand. Patients affected by diseases like swine flu, viral fever, chikungunya, dengue and typhoid are reaching hospitals. Due to increase in cases of diseases caused by mosquitoes and contaminated water, pressure on health services has also started increasing.
It has been revealed that the number of patients in OPD of government hospitals has increased by about 15 to 17 percent. A large number of people suffering from fever, body ache, cold, cough, weakness and stomach related problems are coming for treatment. Due to accumulation of water at many places after rain and presence of moisture in the atmosphere, favorable conditions are created for mosquitoes to breed.
To prevent diseases like dengue and chikungunya, it is important not to allow water to accumulate in and around the house. The breeding of mosquitoes can increase due to prolonged accumulation of water in coolers, pots, tyres, open utensils and water tanks. Similarly, to avoid water-borne diseases, it is important to pay attention to clean drinking water and food hygiene.
An increase is also seen in viral fever patients during seasonal changes. Sudden changes in temperature due to heat during the day and cold at night can affect health. According to medical advice, in case of high or persistent fever, difficulty in breathing, extreme weakness or other serious symptoms, it is better to consult a doctor instead of taking medicine on your own.
In view of the cases of swine flu, caution in crowded places and following hygiene measures in case of symptoms like cough and cold can be useful. If there is a suspicion of dengue, testing and treatment should be done with the advice of a doctor. The health department is also monitoring the situation of seasonal diseases.
