Jagtial: In an inhuman incident in Jagtial town, the last rites of an elderly woman were postponed for over six hours as her relatives locked her house. Sadulla Sattemma’s husband Laxman died 20 years ago. As the couple had no children, she had transferred her property to her brother-in-law’s children after her husband’s death.
Sattemma (85) died on Tuesday after she fell ill while undergoing treatment at a hospital. When her body was brought home, her brother-in-law’s children refused to keep the body inside the house and locked the house and left. The body was kept outside the house for six hours. Locals informed the police about the incident, following which the police reached the spot and broke the door and took the body inside. Instead of performing the last rites themselves, Sattemma’s relatives engaged some private individuals for the job.
