HYDERABAD. Hyderabad: A grant of Rs 190.14 crore has been approved for the Telangana Fire Services Department under the 15th Finance Commission Expansion and Modernization Grant. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in New Delhi on Wednesday by Telangana Fire Services Director General Y Nagi Reddy and New Delhi Fire Services Director General Vivek Srivastava. This grant will be used to repair fire stations which have already been approved by the Telangana Government. Sources told TNIE, “These fire stations were inaugurated about six months ago, but they were running in rented buildings.” He said, “With this grant we can build new fire station buildings.” The department has proposed Rs 57.04 crore for the construction of fire station buildings and purchase of new fire vehicles and fire equipment. The department plans to procure specialised equipment like a 104-metre hydraulic platform, a 68-metre turntable ladder, a 32-metre hydraulic platform and 18 quick response vehicles with firefighting robots, inflatable rescue boats and high-pressure pumps at a proposed cost of Rs 87.57 crore. It is also proposed to strengthen the state headquarters and state training institute with modern equipment at a cost of Rs 19.03 crore.
