Hyderabad: A 46-year-old man who allegedly walked onto the railway tracks to end his life died, along with his teenage daughter who tried to save him, at Yenugonda village in Mahabubnagar on Tuesday morning, July 2. The victims have been identified as Shivanand, a driver at the local SVS hospital, and Chandana, 17, who worked as a medical technician. According to reports, after a heated argument at his home over unknown family issues, Shivanand stormed out of the house saying he did not want to live anymore. Despite Chandana’s attempts to stop him, he stuck to his decision, prompting her to follow him as well.
Officials speculate that Shivanand may have walked straight onto the nearby railway tracks. His daughter, Chandana, attempted to save him, but unfortunately, both were hit by a train and died on the spot. Upon receiving information, the railway police admitted the deceased to the city’s Government General Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered under Section 194 (Investigation and reporting by police on suicide) of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS). Further investigation is underway.
