Telangana likely to receive above-normal rainfall amid weak monsoon forecast

Telangana: The latest forecast released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a weaker-than-normal monsoon for the country, but despite this, normal or above-normal rainfall is expected in many parts of Telangana and South India. This forecast has sparked renewed debate in the fields of agriculture and weather.

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon performance across India may be slightly weak this time, but the distribution of rainfall may vary regionally. Rainfall conditions are expected to be particularly good in Telangana and surrounding states.

Experts believe that the positive phase of the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) may be a major reason behind this situation. When the Indian Ocean Dipole is positive, it promotes moisture and rainfall in South India. This could lead to good rainfall in the final phase of the monsoon season.

According to the IMD, rainfall activity may increase in some parts of South India during the late season, i.e., at the end of the monsoon season. This could directly benefit farmers, especially in areas where crops need water in the final stages.

However, the Meteorological Department has also clarified that this is a preliminary estimate and the actual situation may change over time. The progress of the monsoon depends on many global and regional factors, including sea temperature, air pressure, and other weather patterns.

Agricultural experts believe that if Telangana receives more than normal rainfall, it could prove beneficial for Kharif crops. This will increase water availability and provide relief from drought-like conditions. However, excessive rainfall may also cause waterlogging in some areas, which will need to be kept in mind.

Farmers and the state administration are also closely monitoring this forecast. If rainfall remains normal, it could improve agricultural production. At the same time, the administration is urging people to be prepared to deal with any unusual situation.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the public to pay attention to official updates and avoid rumors. Farmers have also been advised to plan their farming according to the weather.

Overall, while the monsoon is expected to be weak across the country, there is some relief for Telangana and South India, where they may receive normal or above-normal rainfall, which is a positive sign for agriculture and water resources.
