Siddipet: The divine marriage of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and his wives Medala Devi and Kethamma Devi was celebrated with pomp and joy. A grand wedding celebration was held on Sunday morning following the temple traditions. The divine marriage of the presiding deity also marks the beginning of the annual festival, which will last for three months till April 7. Devotees from all over the state and neighboring states witnessed the Kalyanam. Temple priests performed several rituals before the wedding, which started at 5 am and ended at 10.45 am. On every Sunday till 4th April, the temple attracts a large number of devotees as on those Sundays it is celebrated as Patanam Varam, when devotees make a unique painting (Patanam) in the temple premises. Siddipet police have provided security so that the annual festival can be conducted without any problems, while the district administration and temple authorities have made arrangements to ensure that devotees have a problem-free darshan. Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, former minister CH Malla Reddy, Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others were also present on Sunday.
