Telangana: Improvement in transfers of government employees

Telangana: Reforming the transfers of government employees, the Telangana state government on Tuesday, July 2, lifted the ban on the transfer of general staff. Government employees will be eligible for transfers if they have completed four years of service there. The ban was lifted after six years. The move is expected to benefit around three lakh employees posted in various departments and 1.5 lakh teachers employed in government schools. According to the government order (GO) issued by Finance Department Special Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, employees who have been working at the same place for four years are to be transferred. According to the GO, the transfers will be done in the period from July 1 to July 20. The transfer of employees will be done through online counseling in a transparent manner without any manipulation. There will be no voluntary transfer for those retiring before June 30, 2025. Employees who have not completed two years will also not be transferred, according to the latest order of the Telangana government. From June 30, 2024, no employee will be kept at any particular station for more than four years of service. This also included a provision of not transferring more than 40 percent of the employees from the same cadre. Employees can choose the area for their transfer. The names of the five areas in which each employee wants transfer can be sent to the department head. Priority in transport will be given to employees who are suffering from diseases, spouses who retire within a year, children suffering from disabilities and mental illness. The government will discuss with the unions from July 5 to 8. Details of vacancies and exact transfer of employees will be disclosed later. Options of employees will be taken from July 9 to 12. After this, applications received from employees will be considered from July 13 to 18. Transfer orders will be issued on July 19 and 20. The ban on transfers of general employees will come into effect from July 21.
