Nagar Kurnool: A horrific road accident took place at midnight on the Srisailam Ghat Road. According to Egala Penta SI Veeramallu, three persons died on the spot after a car collided with a tree. According to the SI, the details are as follows: Four persons from Bolarum area of Hyderabad were on their way to Srisailam for pilgrimage when their car lost control and collided with a tree between Vatavarlapally and Domalpenta villages on the Ghat Road. It is believed that all four persons in the car were highly inebriated, which led to the accident. On Sunday morning, the bodies of the three deceased were taken to the Achampet Government Hospital by a private ambulance, and the seriously injured person was taken to the Srisailam Sunnipenta Hospital for treatment. As the gates of the Srisailam project have been opened, water is being released into the Nagarjunasagar, causing thousands of vehicles to visit Srisailam to witness the scenic beauty. As a result, vehicles have been stranded for several kilometres from Mannanur to Srisailam on the Hyderabad-Srisailam national highway for the past two days. Accidents are taking place on the ghat road due to drunk driving at night. Police and forest department officials are advising pilgrims, devotees and tourists from all corners of the state to avoid travelling to Srisailam at this time. They are also urging people to understand that it may take ten hours to cover a distance of 10 kilometres due to heavy traffic jams, leading to long waiting times.
