Telangana DGP warns public against fake police call fraud

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitendra on Friday issued a stern warning to the public about the growing trend of fraudsters making fake calls in the name of police personnel. The aim of these fraudsters is to cheat common citizens and extort money from them. On Friday, the DGP shared a video on the official handle of Telangana DGP ‘X’ in which a fraudster falsely claimed that a man’s son has been jailed on rape charges and demanded money to settle the issue. Further, the DGP stressed that the police never ask for money over the phone and urged citizens to report such calls by dialling 1930.
