Telangana: Congress in trouble due to applications for tickets from relatives of leaders

Hyderabad: Family members of several leaders have applied for Congress party tickets to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, raising questions whether the party will accommodate all of them.

Amid the surge in applications, some persons claim that they have been assured tickets on the basis of promises made during the recent assembly elections.

Notably, influential personalities like Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s wife Nandini as well as Komatireddy Venkata Reddy’s daughter, Thummala Nageswara Rao’s son, Dansari Anasuya’s son, Ponguleti Srinivas and family members of other ministers have also sought Lok Sabha tickets. Requests have come for. Brother of Reddy and son of K Jana Reddy.

However, with Peddapalli MP Borlakunta Venkatesh leader’s fresh induction into the party, it is more or less clear that he will get the party ticket to contest the seat, thereby cementing the chances of other candidates.

Congress had earlier promised both MLA and MP (Peddapalli) tickets to the family of Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy. Now that Congress has inducted sitting BRS MP Venkatesh Neta into the party, it is clear that he will be allotted the ticket.

Speaking to TNIE, a senior Congress leader said it would send a wrong message if the party gives tickets to family members of ministers or those who joined the party at the last minute.

The political landscape is now filled with uncertainty as the party grapples with the challenge of ensuring a delicate balance between electoral strategy and public perception.
