Telangana: 108 ambulance technician walks 2 km on railway tracks to rescue injured passenger

Hyderabad: In a remarkable example of courage and selfless service, two emergency technicians from the 108 Ambulance Service walked two kilometers along the railway tracks at midnight to rescue a seriously injured passenger who had fallen onto the tracks while traveling on the Dakshin Express. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. Thursday near Ghanpur Railway Station in Telangana’s Jangaon district when a passenger named Avinash, a resident of Ballarshah, traveling from Hyderabad, fell onto the tracks. According to unconfirmed reports, due to heavy crowds, Avinash was reportedly standing near the entrance when, near Ghanpur station, he lost his balance and fell onto the tracks, suffering serious head injuries. Railway officials immediately contacted emergency services, following which a 108 Ambulance team was dispatched to the scene.
Reports indicate that upon reaching the road-accessible area, 108 pilot Rajanna and emergency medical technician (EMT) Rajendra realized that the injured person was lying on an inaccessible section of the tracks, far from the station platform. Displaying extraordinary dedication, the two heroes immediately provided first aid at the remote location. According to reports, they placed the injured Avinash on a stretcher and began their arduous journey, walking two kilometers along the dark, uneven railway track. After toiling in the midnight darkness, they successfully reached their waiting 108 vehicle and immediately rushed to MGM Hospital in Warangal, about 70 kilometers from Ghanpur station. Avinash was immediately admitted to the emergency department for treatment. Doctors are currently treating his serious head injuries. The remarkable efforts of Pilot Rajanna and EMT Rajendra have received widespread praise from the Ghanpur station master, fellow passengers, and the medical community, highlighting the important and often challenging work performed by emergency medical service providers.
