Anantapur: Telugu Desam has succeeded in convincing its alliance partner Bharatiya Janata Party to drop the demand for Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency.
Subsequently, TDP has announced that its Satya Sai district party president and former Penukonda MLA B.K. Parthasarathy will be the candidate from Hindupur parliamentary seat.
The development comes in the wake of Telugu Desam leaders belonging to the Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency, including sitting Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna, opposing the allotment of the parliamentary seat to the BJP. TD leaders were worried that if the Lok Sabha seat went to the BJP, it would affect the prospects of TDP candidates contesting assembly seats within the Lok Sabha constituency.
Incidentally, former TD of Madakasira constituency is MLC G. Thippeswamy was hoping for a ticket from Hindupur Lok Sabha constituency. Thippeswamy’s supporters are dissatisfied with the party high command’s decision to nominate Parthasarathy from the seat. Sources said Thippeswamy is under pressure from his supporters to leave TDP after being denied the MP seat.
Parthasarathy himself was hoping to be fielded from Penukonda assembly constituency. But TD The seat has been allotted to Savita.
There was a time when BJP asked TDP chief N. to allot Hindupur Lok Sabha seat. Pressure was put on Chandrababu Naidu. At that time, the TD high command had reportedly offered Anantapur Lok Sabha seat to Parthasarathy.
YSRC has already announced that former MP from Bellary, Karnataka, J. Santha will be its candidate from Hindupur Lok Sabha ticket. The ruling party has decided not to field sitting MP Gorantla Madhav from this seat after his alleged nude video went viral on social media. Removing Madhav from the seat will harm the image of YSRC.
The ruling party leadership has also ordered Madhav to refrain from campaigning for the YSRC in the upcoming elections
