Tamil Nadu: Weather changes, possibility of rain in many areas

Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has predicted a change in weather in many parts of Tamil Nadu on Thursday (May 14). According to the department, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places in the western highlands districts, delta regions, and Karaikal areas of the state. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain vigilant against changing weather.

Meanwhile, a press release issued by the central government provided important information regarding the southwest monsoon situation. According to the report, the southwest monsoon is expected to advance into parts of the south Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by May 16. This indicates that the process of monsoon arrival in the country is gradually beginning.

According to the Meteorological Department, the low pressure area (depression) that had formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal has now strengthened further. This system moved northward and intensified into a deep depression over the southwest and west central Bay of Bengal by Wednesday morning. Due to this weather system, rain is expected in some parts of Tamil Nadu.

The weather department has clarified that due to this system, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur at some places in the western hill districts, delta regions, and Karaikal on Thursday. Although the rain will not be widespread, the weather may remain unstable in some areas.

Meteorologists say that the low-pressure and deep-pressure systems currently active in the coastal areas influence the direction and speed of the monsoon. Given the current situation, a gradual change in weather is being observed in South India.

Officials have advised farmers and the public to monitor the latest weather information, especially in areas where agriculture and outdoor activities are more prevalent. Caution has also been urged in open spaces due to the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning.

The Meteorological Department has stated that weather activities in the coastal and coastal areas are being continuously monitored in the coming days. As the monsoon progresses, rainfall conditions will also change.

Thus, while on the one hand there is a possibility of light rain in Tamil Nadu, on the other hand, the conditions also seem to be favourable for the arrival of monsoon.
