Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: The Government of Tamil Nadu has made a formal request to the Central Government to host the National Games to be held in the year 2029. State Sports Minister Adhav Arjun met Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and put forward this proposal and discussed various projects related to the development of sports in Tamil Nadu.
During the meeting, Minister Adhav Arjun gave information about the ongoing sports development schemes in the state and said that new projects are being continuously worked on to strengthen the sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu. He requested the Union Minister to award the hosting of the 2029 National Games to Tamil Nadu, which would further boost the sports infrastructure in the state.
This conversation was held on the instructions of Chief Minister Vijay, in which emphasis was laid on expanding sports in the state and providing better opportunities to the youth. The Minister said that Tamil Nadu is progressing rapidly in the field of sports and international level facilities are being developed here.
During this, a big sports project to be built in Trichy district was also mentioned. It was informed that ‘Trichy Olympic Academy’ complex is being developed in an area of 48 acres in Trichy. The objective of this project is to create a high level sports training center in the state, where national and international level players can be trained.
Minister Adhav Arjun also proposed that a National Center of Excellence for Martial Arts be established in this academy complex. This will provide special training to the players of this region and will give a new identity to martial arts in India.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya listened carefully to Tamil Nadu’s proposals and appreciated the sports development initiative in the state. He said that the Central Government is working with the states to promote the development of sports and this proposal will be considered.
The Tamil Nadu government believes that if the state gets the opportunity to host the 2029 National Games, it will not only expand the sports infrastructure but will also provide an opportunity to local players to showcase their talent on a larger scale. Along with this, new opportunities for sports tourism and employment will also be created in the state.
Sports experts say that such big events prove to be important for any state in the direction of sports development. This not only develops international level facilities but also provides a better platform to young players.
After this proposal, now all eyes are on the final decision of the Central Government, which will decide which state will get the hosting of the 2029 National Games.
