Tamil Nadu: Schools in Rameswaram have been closed today (November 26) due to continuous rain.
The India Meteorological Department has stated that the low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southern Sri Lanka is likely to intensify into a deep depression within the next 12 hours.
Due to this, the Chennai Meteorological Department has also stated that heavy rain is likely, especially in the southern districts.
It is reported that Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Kanyakumari, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Thoothukudi, Trichy, Nellai, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, and Villupuram districts will receive rain until noon.
Ramanathapuram district has been receiving rain since last night. Consequently, the District Collector has declared a holiday for schools only in Rameswaram today.
