Tamil Nadu: The Chennai Meteorological Department has stated that light rain is likely in the western foothill districts of Tamil Nadu for the next two days.
The Meteorological Department issued a press release on Sunday regarding this: The low pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean regions has moved west-northwestward and intensified into a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning and remains over those areas.
It is likely to move further west-northwestward and then northeastward over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area persists over South India. Due to this, light to moderate rain is likely at one or two places in the western highland districts on Monday (February 23) and Tuesday (February 24). Northern weather is likely to prevail in the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Light rain may occur at one or two places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on February 25. Isolated light to moderate rain is possible in southern Tamil Nadu. Northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to experience northerly weather.
In Tamil Nadu, as of 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nambiar Dam (Tirunelveli), Kazhukumalai (Thoothukudi), and Perunjani Dam (Kanyakumari) recorded 50 mm of rain each, Puthan Dam (Kanyakumari) 40 mm each, and Chittar (Kanyakumari) and Tirunelveli 30 mm each. On Monday (February 23rd), Chennai and Puducherry will experience partly cloudy skies. Isolated fog is expected in the morning.
