Tamil Nadu: Political protests intensify over domestic cooking gas price hike

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: Opposition has intensified in Tamil Nadu politics regarding the recent increase in the price of domestic LPG. Leaders of major political parties of the state have strongly criticized this move of the central government and oil companies. He says that increasing the price of gas cylinders has increased the financial burden on the general public, especially the middle and lower income group families.
Congress leader K. Selva Perundakai has strongly condemned this increase. He said that the increase of Rs 29 in the price of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder is highly condemnable. According to him, this step has increased the difficulties of people’s daily living. He appealed to the Central Government to immediately withdraw this increase, so that the additional pressure on the public can be reduced.
Senior PMK leader Anbumani also expressed concern over the second increase in gas prices. He said that this increase has a direct impact on the daily needs of the people. According to him, the government and oil companies should jointly take such measures so that common citizens can avoid this additional financial pressure. Anbumani also said that the government should give priority to the safety and relief of the public in this matter.
At the same time, DMDK leader Premlata Vijaykant criticized the policy of increasing the price of gas cylinders in the domestic market by citing the prices of crude oil in the international market. He says that putting extra burden on the general public for the profit of oil companies is condemnable. He urged the Central Government to stop the price rise immediately in view of the public interest.
Experts believe that the increase in domestic LPG prices not only increases the economic burden, but it also becomes a politically sensitive issue. Pressure on the government may increase due to opposition parties’ opposition to increase in gas cylinder prices in Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, such a step is also likely to spread dissatisfaction at the social level.
This opposition of political leaders is not only about the economic interests of the people, but it also sends the message that the daily needs of common citizens cannot be ignored in the politics of the state. Various parties have demanded immediate action from the government through media and public forums.
For now, it will be important to see what solution the central government and oil companies offer to protest against this increase and whether the economic pressure on the general public can be reduced. The political debate over gas prices in Tamil Nadu is likely to intensify further, and the coming days may see statements and protests from multiple parties on the issue.
