Tamil Nadu: PMK takes out march demanding division of Tiruvannamalai district

Chennai, (IANS) | Tamil Nadu’s PMK on Sunday called for the bifurcation of the state’s Tiruvannamalai district and took out a protest march in front of the Anna statue here to press for the demand. During the protest PMK State President and former Union Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss said that Tiruvannamalai is the second largest district of Tamil Nadu with a population of around 27 lakhs.

He said that the district has eight assembly constituencies and it should be divided into two parts so that each district has four constituencies. Also demanding bifurcation of Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem and Tuticorin districts, he said DMK did nothing to divide Tiruvannamalai even two years after coming to power.

He also said that there is no such facility in Tiruvannamalai which is there in other districts and added that bifurcation of the district would make administration easier.
