Tamil Nadu: Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar launched a new website to boost energy production.

To promote renewable energy generation in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation has launched a new website, the Tamil Nadu Renewable Energy Land Portal, to allow landowners and farmers to register and investors to identify land for their needs. Additionally, to promote rooftop solar power generation, the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation has also launched a new ‘Rooftop Solar Guide Software Tool’ app to provide information to those installing rooftop solar panels.

In this connection, the launch of the new website, the ‘Solar for One Home’ project campaign, and the new Rooftop Solar Guide Software Tool took place on Friday at the Electricity Board headquarters on Anna Salai. Minister S.S. Sivasankar participated in the event and inaugurated these projects.

Later, he told reporters: Tamil Nadu ranks third in India in overall green energy production, second in wind energy production, and fourth in solar energy production. Currently, more than 65,000 households in Tamil Nadu are generating solar power. In this regard, the Tamil Nadu government has set a target to increase green energy production by 2030. He said that new applications for installing rooftop solar panels will be considered and processed within 30 days.

Electricity Board Chairman J. Radhakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department Mangatram Sharma, Managing Director of the Green Energy Corporation Aneesh Shekhar, and several others were present at the meeting.
