Tamil Nadu: Governor visits Srirangam and Thiruvankaval temples

Tamil Nadu : Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi along with his family visited the deities at Srirangam and Thiruvankaval temples in Trichy on Thursday evening.

Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi along with his wife, son and family flew from Chennai on a three-day spiritual trip and arrived at Trichy International Airport at 2.35 pm on Thursday. From there, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and his family left and visited the Srirangam Aranganatha temple at 4.05 pm.

The Tamil Nadu Governor was welcomed at the Renga Renga Gopuram gate by the temple’s Joint Commissioner S. Sivaramkumar, temple chief priests Sundara Patta and Harish Patta who played auspicious instruments and paid full obeisance to the gold-coated golden kalasha and garlanded the guests.

He then went inside the temple and offered fruits to the Andal elephant. He then offered prayers at the big Garudazhwar temple and had darshan of the main deity Aranganatha. Then he came out through the golden flag tree and sat in a battery car and went to the temple of the mother and had darshan.

Then the Governor left for Tiruvannaka temple and reached there at around five in the evening. There the entrance of the western tower of the temple was decorated with gold and garlands and Purnakumpa was done in a silver urn. The Governor was welcomed by Regional Joint Commissioner C. Kalyani, Assistant Temple Commissioner V. Suresh, Thakkar Letshumanan, temple archaka Karthikeyan and Adhyayan Bhatt Vasudevan and took him inside the temple. Later he offered fruits to the temple elephant Akila and took his blessings.

After this, the Swami worshiped Lord Vinayaka in front of the temple and had darshan of the main deity Shambukeshwar and did parikrama. After this he had darshan of Goddess Akilandeshwari. After this, Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and his family were dressed in temple dress and garlands by the temple administration near Kolu Mandapam and were given pictures of Sambukeshwar Akilandeshwari as souvenirs. Then they came out from the north gate and left in a car. Heavy security arrangements were made at Srirangam and Thiruvananthapuram temples in view of the visit of the Tamil Nadu Governor. Moreover, no devotee was allowed inside the temple until the Governor had darshan and left.
