Tamil Nadu: Government announced to build small sports stadiums in 75 assembly constituencies

Tamil Nadu : The state government has announced that work is underway to build mini sports stadiums in 75 assembly constituencies of Tamil Nadu.
A press release issued by the state government about the ongoing work of the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority working under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi:
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin announced in the Assembly that Chief Minister’s mini stadiums will be built in all the assembly constituencies of Tamil Nadu. The project is being implemented in various phases. Small stadiums with field facilities for 5 major sports like athletics, football, basketball, handball and kabaddi are being built at a cost of Rs 3 crore. So far, work is underway to build Chief Minister’s mini stadiums in 75 assembly constituencies.
High incentives worth Rs 152.52 crore have been given to 4,617 sportspersons and players who made Tamil Nadu proud by winning medals in international and national level sports competitions. Kalaignar Sports Equipment Distribution Scheme is being implemented to promote the availability of sports equipment in panchayats. 16,798 sports equipment have been provided to 12,525 gram panchayats. After this, sports equipment worth Rs 100 crore is being provided to urban local bodies.
104 players who won medals in international and Paralympic national competitions have been given jobs in public and government sectors. It has been told that the pension given to the best players who have become disabled has been increased from Rs 3 thousand to Rs 6 thousand.
