Tamil Nadu: The Metro Rail Corporation has warned that passengers who disturb other passengers will be fined.
A press release issued by the Chennai Metro Rail Corporation states: The comfort and tranquility of other passengers must be respected by following the Metro Rail travel rules. According to the Metro Rail Maintenance Act, disturbing other passengers or doing anything that disturbs their comfort is a punishable offense. According to this, using a mobile phone in a manner that creates excessive noise, such as talking loudly on a mobile phone, listening to music or watching videos without a headset, and causing disturbance to others is a punishable offense.
Therefore, passengers who violate the rules while traveling on the Metro will be fined up to ₹500. If necessary, they will be removed from the Metro premises by authorized officials.
It states that everyone should use headphones on their mobile phones while being considerate of other passengers’ surroundings. Loud conversations and the use of speaker mode should be avoided within the Metro premises.
