Tamil Nadu: The nomination process for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections has reached its final stage. The filing process will be completed by Monday (April 6). On Saturday alone, more than 1,000 candidates filed their nominations, bringing the total number to 3,413 so far.

The state Assembly elections will be held on April 23. This election is being seen as a four-way contest between the four major political parties—DMK, AIADMK, Tevaag, and Naam Tamil. All parties have announced their candidates and are campaigning vigorously across the state.

The nomination process began on March 30 and will end on April 6. The record number of candidates filing nominations on Saturday has made the election process even more interesting and competitive. Along with major parties, several independent candidates have also filed their nominations.

In particular, several prominent leaders filed their nominations on Saturday. These included Ministers I. Periyasamy, Thangam Thennarasu, Anbil Mahesh, Ara Chakravarthy, T.R.B. Raja, S.M. Nassar, former Minister Kadampur S. Raju, and S. Gokula Indira. Several local leaders and newcomers also entered the fray.

Election officials stated that a large crowd is expected on the last day of nomination filing. Due to the record number of candidates submitting their documents, adequate preparations have been made in their offices. Officials have requested candidates to submit all required documents and fees on time to avoid any disruptions in the process.

Security and administrative preparations for the elections have also been completed in the state. In accordance with the Election Commission’s directives, the Tamil Nadu Police have restricted official leave and deployed security forces. Furthermore, the Election Commission has coordinated with the local administration and police to closely monitor violations of the Model Code of Conduct.

This election is a tense political environment, with a fierce contest between the four major parties. In addition to the DMK and AIADMK, smaller parties and independent candidates are also in the fray to showcase their strength in various regions of the state. Party workers, local leaders, and young voters are actively involved in the campaign.

The election preparations and the high number of nomination filings have made the upcoming elections in the state even more competitive and exciting. Only after the completion of the nomination process will the final list of candidates be released, and the Election Commission will finalize the polling plan for all constituencies.
