Tamil Nadu aims for 2028 Olympics, special support for squash players

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Public Works and Sports Minister Adhav Arjuna stated that the state government will provide all necessary support to the athletes who won the World Cup Squash Tournament to help them win medals at the 2028 Olympic Games. He made this statement while congratulating the Tamil Nadu athletes who recently performed exceptionally well at the World Cup Squash Tournament.

Minister Adhav Arjuna stated that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state government is working with a clear and long-term vision for the development of sports. He stated that a detailed action plan is being developed to enable Tamil Nadu athletes to win medals at the international level, especially at the Olympic Games. This plan will focus on providing athletes with improved training, modern facilities, and expert coaching.

He stated that necessary steps are being taken in collaboration with senior officials of the Sports Department, athletes, and administrators of various sports associations to prepare athletes for world-class competition. The government’s goal is to ensure that Tamil Nadu athletes not only participate in the Olympics in the future, but also win medals.

The Minister also stated that, so far, Tamil Nadu athletes have primarily won medals in team events like hockey at the Olympic Games. However, athletes from the state have yet to win an Olympic medal in individual events. The government is working on a specific strategy to change this situation.

Adhav Arjun emphasized that there is no shortage of talent in sports, but it is the government’s responsibility to provide them with the right direction, training, and resources. He stated that Tamil Nadu athletes have proven their potential internationally in sports like squash and can perform well at the Olympic level in the future.

According to the government’s plan, athletes will be connected to international-level training centers and provided with modern facilities such as sports science, fitness, and mental preparation. In addition, selected athletes will also be provided with special scholarships and financial assistance.

The Minister also indicated that the state government is considering establishing new stadiums, training centers, and high-performance units to strengthen sports infrastructure. This will provide more opportunities for youth to pursue sports.

Sports experts believe that if this scheme is implemented effectively, Tamil Nadu athletes can make a strong bid for individual medals in the upcoming Olympics.
