Tamil Nadu: 4 government school students leave for Japan to participate in Sakura Science Programme

Tamil Nadu: A major opportunity to learn internationally has emerged for students from government schools in Tamil Nadu. Selected students from the state will depart from Chennai for Japan on Friday (May 22) to participate in a prestigious academic and scientific exchange program.

The program is being organized under the Sakura Science High School Exchange Program, implemented by the Japan Institute of Science and Technology. It is an international academic and scientific exchange program aimed at providing students with global experience in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.

Four government school students and one teacher from Tamil Nadu have been selected for this program. The selected students include V. Rohit Kumaran (Government Model School, Vepplodai, Thoothukudi), R. Arnold Jack Oliver (Government Model Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, Nilgiris), M. Lakshitha (Government Model Higher Secondary School, Maraimalai Nagar, Chengalpattu), and M. Kanishka (Government Higher Secondary School, Ganapathipalayam, Erode).

In addition, N. Malai Easwari, a teacher at S.N.V. Government Model Higher Secondary School, Emaneshwaram, Ramanathapuram district, has also been selected to participate in the program. This selection is considered a significant achievement for both students and teachers.

Under this exchange program, selected participants will have the opportunity to visit various science and technology institutions in Japan, work in laboratories, and gain a closer understanding of the education model there. They will also exchange ideas with Japanese students.

According to the Education Department, such international programs boost students’ self-confidence and prepare them for global competition. The selection of students from government schools for such a prestigious program is being seen as a positive sign for the state’s education sector.

Families and teachers of the students are also excited about this achievement. All selected participants are being wished a bright future.

This trip will not only be an educational experience for the students but will also provide them with an opportunity to understand international culture, science, and technology.
