Tamil Nadu: 30,000 houses for sanitation workers

Tamil Nadu: The budget statement states that steps are being taken to provide 30,000 more houses for sanitation workers.

To help sanitation workers become entrepreneurs, financial assistance of ₹10 crore has been provided under the Self-Employment Scheme. For the first time in the country, a scheme has been launched to provide food to 1,29,689 sanitation workers at a cost of ₹214 crore.

Similarly, 1,112 houses have been provided to them so far at a cost of ₹23 crore. Additionally, steps have been taken to provide 30,000 more houses.

The interim budget statement allocates ₹3,934 crore for the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.
