Tamil Nadu: The Tiruvallur POCSO Court has sentenced a young man to 20 years in prison and a fine of ₹35,000 for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Tiruvottriyur.
Kabilan (23), a resident of the Tiruvottriyur area of Chennai, is accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl from near her home and sexually assaulting her after asking her to bring money from home. Based on a complaint filed by the girl’s parents at the Tiruvottriyur All Women’s Police Station, police investigated and subsequently arrested Kabilan under the POCSO Act.
He was subsequently produced before the Tiruvallur POCSO Court and lodged in Puzhal Jail. The case was being heard by the Tiruvallur District POCSO Court. Special Public Prosecutor Bhuvaneshwari appeared in the case.
The case finally came before POCSO Court Judge Uma Maheshwari. The judge hearing the case found Kabilan guilty and sentenced him to 20 years in prison and a fine of ₹35,000. Man sentenced to 9 years in prison for sexually abusing 3 girls:

Ramesh (40) is a resident of the Tiruvottriyur area of Chennai. In 2021, he sexually abused three girls aged 7, 9, and 15 while they were playing near his home. The girls’ parents filed a complaint at the Tiruvottriyur All Women Police Station, and after an investigation, police arrested Ramesh under the POCSO Act. He was subsequently produced before the Tiruvallur POCSO Court and sent to Puzhal Prison.
